So, remember all the love I had for Black Sigil? Well, due to the fact that the game was pushed back an additional three release dates before it came out I lost enough interest in it that I didn’t go out of my way to pick it up. And now that the reviews are coming in I’m glad I didn’t!
Here’s a quote from what would have been Jeremy Parish’s review for 1up…..had the game not been too terrible to actually finish…
“Including a few episodes of backtracking due to this sort of arbitrary, unfriendly dungeon design, I put in about 12 hours of playtime all told. This wasn’t enough time to finish the game, so feel free to disregard my score if you wish. But the time I invested in Black Sigil was more than enough to make me realize that this is one of the least entertaining RPG I’ve ever played. In fact, the more I played, the worse it got, and the hopes I harbored for improvement at the adventure’s rough but promising outset were steadily dashed.”
Other reviews have listed similar experiences, but Parish was someone that was actually pushing the title as something that could be really cool. You can read the rest of his review here which dives deeper into the many issues the game has.
