This might very well be the shortest review I ever write, but I do feel the need to log at the very least a couple of words about the movie Be Kind Rewind. I will be the first to admit that I have a slightly different taste in movies then the average popcorn popper. I love movies that have a lighthearted indy feel to them almost as much as if not more than I love big budget blockbusters. Give me a Wes Anderson flick any day of the week for instance and I will walk away with a smile on my face. One movie that I am extremely fond of is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind. I won’t get into why it is that I love the film, but I will say that it is one of my all time favorites. So, you can imagine my state of mind when I picked up Be Kind Rewind (it was directed by the same guy) and my complete letdown when I realized it really wasn’t that good.
This movie isn’t bad; it’s just plain average. It never really does anything that jumps out at you or even peeks your interest for more than two seconds. As much as I wanted to fall in love with its quirky story I simply never did. There are a handful of funny moments, and the overall premise behind the movie isn’t terrible. However, there really isn’t anything hidden within the film that is going to hold your interest long enough to make it memorable.

Agree with this rating… watched it the other week, I think you got it right. It is simple, funny but not laugh out loud funny… not real sure how I feel about Mos Def (as a person or an actor), Jack Black wasn’t as predictable as I thought he might be. This is one I forgot I watched about 4 hours later.
Can’t agree more about Eternal Sunshine… it is in my top 5 for movies. I am a big Kate Winslet fan.
